Hey everyone,
So sorry that we've been ever so quiet over the last few months. Things have been crazy! Health stuff and a big house move among other things have prevented me from writing.
But we're back just in time for summer!
So in April we held our Easter Quiz which went down a treat with my family- I'm the ultimate quiz maestro. We added a new addition to the quiz- a cups round where each person playing had the chance to win a treat or a forfeit..... I can't take credit for that idea as I found it on Facebook but it was fun.
In May, my mum had her birthday and we went out for some lunch at a restaurant I used to like but no longer like. I mean who doesn't cater to allergies anymore? I ended up having one breast of chicken which would have originally cost us £34! But because I couldn't have what came with it they only charged us £10. Such an embarrassing moment but luckily my mum had a good time anyway. We've decided we won't be going back there. We kinda laugh about it now but after we'd finished in there I was absolutely ravenous!!
June was a quiet month as my health took over but sometimes you need to rest and look after yourself. However we had the pleasure (Duncan & I) of going up to Manchester to see family for a long weekend to celebrate his cousin's nuptials. We had a bbq and it was really nice to see family we hadn't seen in about 3 years due to the pandemic. I only have one regret from that day- I had 2 glasses of prosecco and let's just say we aren't the best of friends. I prefer red or rose wine anyway. But it was good to see family and celebrate a wonderful couple.
We also had the chance to go to Chester for the day on the Sunday and although it was warm but cloudy we had a great time. Lots of exploring (Chester is very well known for its tudor buildings). On the way to Chester we passed Delamere (known as the Forest Station) as it is home to Delamere Forest (which is a sight to behold). This is where Duncan proposed to me in 2014. I managed to get a few pictures of the station as we passed it. We will visit Delamere Forest soon. We didn't have time on this trip.
On our way home via London, we met up with my mum, my aunt, my sister and our nephew for his birthday. We had pizza and lots of fun. He is now 5 years old and we couldn't be more prouder of who he is as a person and how well he is doing in school.
So we're almost in July and this weekend I turn 34! It falls on a Saturday so I'm racking my brain for ideas of what to do.
I spent some quality time with my Mum today which was lovely as I don't get to London that often. On my way to pick Duncan up from work I had time on my hands so I went to explore one of the great streets for restaurants in London. The amazing Charlotte Street. One of my favourite restaurants (that I am yet to have the pleasure to eat in) called Mere is along here and I took a picture of the great architecture and splendour of it. I hope to eat here one day as the menus are spectacular. Monica Galetti and her husband Stephen head up the brilliant team at Mere and I hope to have the pleasure of meeting them both one day.
I am truly amazed at the architecture around Fitzrovia in London. From modern to old style architecture there is something for everyone.
If you ever get the chance do check it out.
What's your go to restaurant? What places are good for a day trip? Do let us know! We are always looking for new places to explore.
Till next time...
Lily xxx
