Hey everyone,

I don't know if you're like me where you dread turning a year older every year. I have the wrinkles and dark circles under my eyes to prove it. A few years ago, I turned 30 and for my birthday we marked it by going to Oscar at The Charlotte Street Hotel for afternoon tea with family. My father in law and his then girlfriend (now wife) came over from the Netherlands especially which was lovely. Oscar is a very up and coming and promising restaurant on the hot spot that is Charlotte Street in London. Charlotte Street has some of the best restaurants in London.

I recently went to a friends 30th birthday party recently and the theme was fancy dress. So Duncan and I went as an 80's couple. It was so much fun and I loved dressing up. When you have a big birthday how do you usually celebrate? I'm not sure what I would do for my 40th. I've got years to think about it (laughs).

My friends cake was Disney themed. It looked amazing. Duncan had some and it tasted delicious. There was a sweetie cart and a small finger buffet too. We had such a good time that we were cream crackered by the time we got home!

It's good when a birthday brings family and friends together to celebrate. Sometimes I wonder why it takes us so long to get together. Then I realise life does. Life is the reason we don't often get together. I mean I live in Essex, my baby sister lives in Buckinghamshire and the rest of my immediate family are scattered across London. So when we do get together, we mark it properly.

Above are links to both Oscar's Bar & Restaurant and the best restaurants on Charlotte Street including the great Mere owned by renowned chef Monica Galetti and her husband Stephen. Do take a look and let me know your thoughts. Will you have dinner on Charlotte Street then take in a show???

Love,

Lily x
