Hi everyone,
This blog is for those of us who would rather make a home cooked meal rather than go out on Valentine's Day. There is no shame in it. I love making Duncan steak with mash potatoes (a few Valentine's ago) or a nice heart warming stew. Sometimes it's not possible to go out because of the day Valentine's falls on or because of childcare arrangements etc. For us, we like having a meal together and then watch Netflix in our pj's with a hot chocolate before turning in.
I have no idea what we will do for Valentine's Day this year though as my oven has packed in! (Hangs head in shame) Luckily our cooker is still working as it is separate from our oven. I also happen to have a slow cooker so that's another option.
But don't despair, BBC Good Food have an array of ideas including treats to make with children and gifts to make for someone you love. You can see what's on offer right here: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/feature/valentines-day
Also don't be ashamed if you decide to opt for the 'Dine in for £20' option. Waitrose & Partners have created a delicious menu that includes a starter, main, side, dessert and the choice of a fine wine, cocktail or chocolates. All for £20. What a steal hey? You can see what's on offer right here: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/shop/featured/meal-deals/150
Marks & Spencer also have a dine in option for £25. A starter, main, side, dessert and a choice of prosecco, wine or two soft drinks. Their menu can be seen here: https://www.marksandspencer.com/c/food-to-order/valentines-dine-in
I just bumped into Duncan in the hallway and told him about the above offers and asked him if he reads my blog. He replied 'Occasionally'. I wonder if he was being polite or genuinely telling the truth (laughs) because I put him on the spot...
Until next time,
Lily xx
