Hi all,
It was International Women's Day recently and one thing that I love seeing is people post about women that deserve to be given recognition for all they do and who they are.
Now there are many women out there who have paved a way for us today. The many suffragettes who suffered greatly so we could vote in the UK, the many women who work for NASA, the women who serve in our armed forces, and many more.
Over the years there has been plenty of women who have inspired me, helped to nurture me and so much more. I appreciate each and everyone of them.
My baby sister being one of them. She's got resilience, style and is always up for a coffee date. She's caring, considerate of others, loving and is always there when you need her. I am so proud of her.
Monica Galetti is a culinary legend. I am a blogger and better cook/baker thanks to her. I have never met her in person but would love to. Her attention to detail, her smile and her general demeanour is things you'd want in a friend. She's inspired me to be more creative with my recipes and despite the press of the last year, I am a Masterchef fan. Currently watching Masterchef: The Professionals 😊
Diane Keaton was an incredible actress. I was saddened to hear of her death in October last year but her legacy will live on for decades to come. From playing Nina Banks in the Father of the Bride series to playing Sybil Stone in The Family Stone, she has been an inspiration to all women out there across the world. She didn't do what society expected of her- fall in love with a Hollywood guy, get married, have children and live a life in the hills as it were. She held her own. She's a prime example of how women can be independent and live independently. I am married yes, but I still have my own identity- that will never change. Her portrayal of characters over the years have been genuine, from the heart and more. May her legacy live on through generations to come.
There are so many women out there who have made a difference to society, to the way women are treated, to the way the world sees things. I hope for this year and the years to come, that we continue to appreciate them for all they are and all they do. I also know that the future generations of women to come will succeed in all they do (within reason of course, I don't condone bad behaviour).
The above short list, is only a select few women I look up to and have looked up to over the years. I could list hundreds and hundreds but I don't want to tear you away from reading this blog.
Who do you aspire to be? Has anyone inspired you over the years? If yes what and who? Let us know!
