It's been a while....

I realised today that it has been a few months since I last wrote on my blog. Not a lot of baking and cooking has happened in those few months as I have been taken ill quite a few times.

But most recently, I have got back into the kitchen. Baking an 80th Birthday cake for my lovely friend Iris, making Sausage Casserole, making cupcakes and more. I'm also writing a collection of stories for children too, so I am a bit of a busy body at the moment.

One thing I have learnt recently is to be patient. Patience gives you better cakes, better food and a better prospect for life.

Some of you may not know that I am a Christian. I decided to follow Jesus wholeheartedly when I was 18 years old. My life hasn't been plain sailing, but God has been with me every step of the way. Life isn't always like a rainbow full of colour, but when your light shines, it makes you smile.

I love all kinds of weather. Rain or shine, nothing stops me smiling. I love it that sometimes you see gorgeous sunsets and sunrises.

This afternoon I have been watching a film called "A Shine of Rainbows". It's a Irish film, filmed in County Donegal, and although in the midst of it there is sadness, it's reminded me that there is always hope no matter where we are or what we do. It is worth a watch. Life always throws us something we don't want to see, hear or do. But it's when we face challenges that we are often our strongest even if we don't feel like we are.

God (if you will let Him) will come into your heart and make it whole again full of life. It is only through asking for forgiveness (of all the things we have done wrong) from God that we can be changed and relieved from our sin.

Someone once said that "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"* and funny enough the above applies to life itself. How we live, how we see things and more. Despite the current climate, I count my blessings. If it wasn't for God and the NHS I wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't be alive.

So today think about all the things you have, food, shelter, clothes, etc. and thank God for them.

*The quote is from Forrest Gump

With best and warmest wishes
