Hi everyone,
I am so sorry for the lack of recipes during July. But I can finally share our winning recipe from our competition! Thank you so much to everyone who entered. We had an abundance of recipes to choose from but ultimately this recipe sent in by Anne Woolnough was the winner by far!
So Anne's recipe is for:
Profiteroles and Homemade Chocolate Sauce!!
Ingredients:
For the Profiteroles:
50g Butter
150 ml Water
65g plain sieved Flour
2 Eggs beaten
For the Hot Chocolate Sauce:
3oz brown sugar
3oz white sugar
1oz cocoa
Half pint Milk
1oz Butter
Vanilla essence
Method: To make the Profiteroles:
1. Melt butter add water and bring to the boil in a pan, add flour all at once and beat as though your life depends on it!
2. Add beaten egg a little at a time to create a gloopy mess!
3. Put into a forcing bag with a large 1cm plain nozzle and pipe small mounds onto a lined baking sheet with space between to allow for rise.
4. Cook in a hot oven 200(fan) gas 7 for 10 minutes, turn heat down to 170( fan)and cook for 20 more minutes until golden.
5. Slit each bun and leave to cool in a wire rack.
6. Beat half a pint of double cream until thick enough to pipe.
7. When the profiteroles are cool use an icing syringe to add cream inside each profiterole. ( can be flavoured with a little icing sugar or even banana if you like!)
8. I then dip the top each one into melted chocolate....you could use white, plain and milk to make the heap look interesting!
To make the Hot Chocolate Sauce:
1. Bring all ingredients together in a saucepan stirring until boiling, gently simmer for about half an hour stirring occasionally.
2. Once cool it thickens, reheat in the microwave to regain pouring consistency.
3. Once the chocolate is cool and set stack into a bowl and put in the fridge
Enjoy!
