Hi everyone,
I promise this is the last post related to Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day in the evening, Duncan said to me (when we read a few poems from a book he brought me a few years ago) that he wondered if he should get a book made of all my favourite poems. How romantic is that? It reminded me of an episode of The O.C (series 4 episode 14) where Ryan gives Taylor a red bound book he had made of poems she'd translated to declare his love for her. At the time, for the life of me, I couldn't remember where I'd seen it happen. Today though, it's been on my mind as I write this and all of a sudden, through a google search I realised where I had seen it.
I love reading poetry, especially ones about romance- I'm the soppy romantic type (laughs). So here is some of our favourite quotes and poems. We hope you enjoy reading them.
My favourite poem of all is 'I Carry Your Heart' by E.E Cummings
'i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)'
Baby When You Hold Me by Shelagh Bullman
'Baby, when you hold me, my emotions makes it clear
Just how much you mean to me while we are laying here.
I listen to your heartbeat in rhythm with my own,
With every pound that warming sound keeps me safe with love you've shown.
Baby, when you touch me with hands so soft but strong,
You wrap me in your warm embrace, just where I belong.
You hold me close and comfort me all throughout the night
Until you open up your eyes to first signs of daylight.
Baby when you kiss me before you start your day,
The happiness you bring my heart, no words can ever say.
You make my life so beautiful, wonderful, and new.
You're my hopes and dreams. You're my everything; I'm so in love with you.'
The Meaning of Love by Krina Shah
'To love is to share life together,
to build special plans just for two,
to work side by side,
and then smile with pride,
as one by one, dreams all come true.
To love is to help and encourage
with smiles and sincere words of praise,
to take time to share,
to listen and care
in tender, affectionate ways.
To love is to have someone special,
one on whom you can always depend
to be there through the years,
sharing laughter and tears,
as a partner, a lover, a friend.
To love is to make special memories
of moments you love to recall,
of all the good things
that sharing life brings.
Love is the greatest of all.
I've learned the full meaning
of sharing and caring
and having my dreams all come true;
I've learned the full meaning
of being in love
by being and loving with you.'
A few romantic quotes now....
'Loved you yesterday, love you still, always have, always will.' - Elaine Davis
'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.' 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
'Love isn't something you find, love is something that finds you.' Loretta Young
'And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.' 1 Corinthians 13: 13
'Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it.' Nicholas Sparks- A Walk to Remember
'Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies- Aristotle
'I think I'd miss you even if we never met.' Nick to Kat (The Wedding Date)
'You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you.' Mr Darcy to Elizabeth Bennett (Pride & Prejudice)
So there's our favourite romantic poems and quotes. Do you agree with us? What's your favourite romantic poem or quote?
Feeling the love here.
